Economic Development and Growth in SA

I am currently writing a white paper on job-led economic development and growth in Africa. The title being “How do we solve the problems on unemployment, underdevelopment and growthlessness”. This white paper seeks to posit an array of intellectual propositions to address the scourge of unemployment, which as we all know exacerbates many other social ills.

As someone whose opinion I value, I invite you to help me answer one very simple question;

1. What is it that needs to be done, in South Africa, to achieve growth that leads to employment creation and development?

Please post comments below and add your opinion on the subject matter.

    We need to start changing our mind set , get higher level of education and instill ambition and things can only move forward from there

    i think if we empower ourselves, then our own family members then that wud create wealth & stability amoungst families. in the larger scale then poverty & crime would reduce & eventually or gradually we would be on track. i don't think its possible to help a stranger when ur own brother or sister needs that help. i hope im making sense

    The growth of SA lies in the youth of SA.We need to broaden our minds and think beyond just being an employee or a casual worker.If we all could abort the fear of being independent,we'd start being innovative hence we'd start seeing and tackling things from different perspectives than those only instilled in us. We need to teach our minds the art of thinking beyond that which sits in front of us.

    Siphokazi has hit the nail on the head. I would also encourage tax laws that r favourable for small businesses to increase their chances of success. On top of that, I would tighten our immigration requirements just like Australia so that we limit the influx of unskilled immigrants.

    @Mnyeps i totally agree with you.We must go a step further and desire to live those dreams.Without them we live purposeless lives of wanting to propel other men to their dream destinations.And it only requires visiting that tiny place called the MIND!

    There are TWO solutions: 1.SA Gment needs to stop spoon feeding its people with infrastructures and tackle the main issue, employment. People will tackles infrastructure issues by themselves. Investing in erecting companies that renders services & products that are needed in the world of constant development is one possible solution that can be ... See Moreachieved of course through researching the market needs and affordability
    2. Why not scrap the whole Idea of monetary policy where money is used as an object to decide everything? Why not implement a policy that will see to it that everyone in SA is working and being productive? if this is done right then we can have a 0% unemployment without having to do all those dreadful things to each other. But hey, crazy or not, that’s just what I think.

    But basically its about togetherness. working together towards a common goal we can aliviate unemployment.
